Lead Research Officer

BTI Proteomics Group

We are recruiting a highly motivated research officer to work on biologics and food related protein analytics. The candidate will work closely with experienced scientists to drive operational efficiency and productivity.


Responsibilities:

  1. High throughput protein isolation and sample preparation for LC-MS.

  2. Operation and maintenance of HPLC and LC-MS instruments.

  3. Proteomics data analysis and interpretation.

  4. Support general lab management and other tasks assigned by supervisors.


Job Requirement

  • A Master’s / Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, or biological mass spectrometry related fields.

  • At least 2 years of hands-on working experience with gel electrophoresis, HPLC based protein purification and separation, and subsequent LC-MS analysis.

  • Experience with data analysis using Python, C++ and R programming language will be advantageous.

  • Resourceful and able to work efficiently with attention to details.

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment with positive work attitude and ethics.

  • Excellent writing, communication and time management skills.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing environment and project priorities / timelines.

Research Fellow – Proteomics

Biomedical Institute for Global Health Research and Technology (BIGHEART), NUS

BIGHEART develops innovative healthcare solutions to address current challenges in health and spark major advancements with societal and economic impact. The SurgiCAL ProtEomics Laboratory (SCALPEL) is a laboratory within BIGHEART with a focus on bringing next generation proteomics based platforms (including Electron Spray Ionisation, MALDI Imaging mass spectrometry and Liquid chromatography) with downstream machine learning capabilities into the clinical arena.


A major aspect of the work is developing innovative techniques in low volume, low abundance protein discovery prior to high sensitivity mass spectrometry analysis. Work will be performed together with the mass spectrometry team in the facility.   

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Experimental analysis of samples by mass spectrometry including sample preparation, bioanalytical work, analysis and reporting of protein/peptide expression, and method development

  • Compiling and analysing proteomics data

  • Data management and data services

  • Coordination of core facility projects

Research Assistant / Senior Research Assistant

Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) Programme

The Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) Programme houses state-of-the-art technologies for profiling mitochondrial function and metabolic adaptations in human patients and other model organisms, and undertakes translational and clinical research in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. The successful applicant should have experience in molecular biology and/or analytical chemistry background and would be involved in routine activities such as processing biological samples and laboratory management.

  • Establish work procedures to maintain high efficiency and productivity of the laboratory.

  • Perform cell culture and animal related studies (experience preferred).

  • Perform routine assays on biological samples and participate in R&D work on mass spectrometers (GC-MS and LC-MS).

  • Accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and research findings.

  • Other job responsibilities include equipment maintenance and general lab management (equipment maintenance, inventory control, safety etc.)

 

Qualifications

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Sciences / Life Sciences or MD/MBBS.

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in the design and conduct of experimental projects.

  • All applicants should have background in analytical chemistry and experience in molecular biology.

  • Experience in using gas or liquid chromatography and mass spectrometers is necessary.

  • Familiarity with Good Lab Practice will be advantageous.

  • Demonstrated good knowledge, skills and expertise in supporting various research activities.

  • Laboratory experimental skills.

  • Strong team player skills and the ability to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce.
