Scientific Officer

Singapore Phenome Centre, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine

The Scientific Officer will be assisting in various projects and the operation of the Singapore Phenome Centre.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Metabolite extraction from clinical and environmental samples.

  • Analyze clinical and environmental samples using UPLC-QTOF and UPLC-TQ

  • Method development

  • Operate and maintain UPLC-QTOF and UPLC-TQ for metabolomics.

  • Report the results internally with the centre and department.

  • Assisting with administrative duties in the centre on an ad-hoc basis.

  • Conducting Mass Spectrometry Imaging Experiment

  • Plan and execute experiments; collect, analyze and report data to reporting officer

  • Communicate scientific results in written and oral formats, internally with centre.

  • Execute necessary duties for laboratory instrument maintenance



  • Candidates should have a master degree\Ph.D. in relevant fields such as Chemistry, biochemistry or related life science disciplines.

  • The candidate needs to communicate efficiently with the team, is a fast learner, and require minimal supervision.

  • The candidate must have hands-on experience in method development and providing support on analytical instruments such as LC-MS, LC-MS/MS, QTOF, TQ, Mass Spectrometry Imaging, proficiency with scientific programming is important.

  • Good work knowledge of analytical application in clinical and environmental science

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Must be self-motivated

  • A track record for delivering quality work within timelines

  • Ability to work effectively as an individual and as a team player

  • Keen willingness and humility to teach and learn from fellow teammates

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail are critical

Lead Research Officer

BTI Proteomics Group

We are recruiting a highly motivated research officer to work on biologics and food related protein analytics. The candidate will work closely with experienced scientists to drive operational efficiency and productivity.


  1. High throughput protein isolation and sample preparation for LC-MS.

  2. Operation and maintenance of HPLC and LC-MS instruments.

  3. Proteomics data analysis and interpretation.

  4. Support general lab management and other tasks assigned by supervisors.

Job Requirement

  • A Master’s / Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, or biological mass spectrometry related fields.

  • At least 2 years of hands-on working experience with gel electrophoresis, HPLC based protein purification and separation, and subsequent LC-MS analysis.

  • Experience with data analysis using Python, C++ and R programming language will be advantageous.

  • Resourceful and able to work efficiently with attention to details.

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment with positive work attitude and ethics.

  • Excellent writing, communication and time management skills.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing environment and project priorities / timelines.

Research Fellow – Proteomics

Biomedical Institute for Global Health Research and Technology (BIGHEART), NUS

BIGHEART develops innovative healthcare solutions to address current challenges in health and spark major advancements with societal and economic impact. The SurgiCAL ProtEomics Laboratory (SCALPEL) is a laboratory within BIGHEART with a focus on bringing next generation proteomics based platforms (including Electron Spray Ionisation, MALDI Imaging mass spectrometry and Liquid chromatography) with downstream machine learning capabilities into the clinical arena.

A major aspect of the work is developing innovative techniques in low volume, low abundance protein discovery prior to high sensitivity mass spectrometry analysis. Work will be performed together with the mass spectrometry team in the facility.   


Key Responsibilities

  • Experimental analysis of samples by mass spectrometry including sample preparation, bioanalytical work, analysis and reporting of protein/peptide expression, and method development

  • Compiling and analysing proteomics data

  • Data management and data services

  • Coordination of core facility projects
