About the job

The FTRA will be working as a research assistant in the Protein & Proteomics Centre, Department of Biological Sciences, National University of Singapore for nine months. The research assistant will work together with a group of scientists and researchers on the field of proteomics and mass spectrometry.

The trainees will gain exposure to the following functional areas:

Work as an independent in a research lab environment.
interact with lab members and work together as a team.
Learn to think systematically and analytically

Requirements

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. perform sample preparation for proteomics samples

  2. perform routine biochemical laboratory activities such as buffer preparation, gel electrophoresis and protein assays

  3. perform other laboratory housekeeping, safety and  administrative matters

  4. perform basic proteomics data analysis

  5. perform basic operation of lab instrument (HPLC/ Freezer/plate reader, etc.)

Competencies trainee will learn during SGUnited Traineeship Programme:

  1. Gain experience in routine research laboratory activities

  2. Able to work independently and with minimum supervision

  3. Excellent communication skills and team player

Qualifications

  1. Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident

  2. Graduated in 2020 or 2019

  3. Bachelor of Science Degree in Life Sciences or Science-related areas.

  4. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently, prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision

  5. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team

  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
